Journaling With Essential Oils

Using essential oils while journaling can bring an entire new level of peace, calm and awareness to your journaling experience. Journaling with essential oils is an experience like no other and I highly recommend it. If you are an experienced journalist, never written a single journal entry, use essential oils daily or never touched an essential oil in your life, this post is for you.

I’m going to share with you some amazing journal prompts for moms for you to journal out while using essential oils. But first I want to share some amazing essential oils with you and tell you exactly how to use them while journaling.

Journaling with essential oils is fun. It’s relaxing. It’s a great way to start your day. Or end your day. Or take a break during the middle of your day.

Journaling with essential oils is a very personal experience. FIrst of all, the journal entry is your personal entry with your own personal thoughts. The point of journaling is to release thoughts, feelings and emotions. Your own thoughts, feelings and emotions, without judgment.  Secondly, everyone responds differently to different essential oils. For example, some find Bergamot essential oil calming and relaxing and diffuse it at night for sleep, while others find it uplifting and invigorating. So your personal oil preference will play a role here.

The fun thing about this is you get to experiment with the essential oils and see how your body and mind react to each oil or each blend. There is no right or wrong essential oil choice when journaling with essential oils. Find what inspires you, relaxes you, or gets your creative juices flowing.

There are two popular ways to use essential oils while journaling. Aromatically (most popularly diffusing) and topically.

How To Journal With Essential Oils

First, let’s talk about journaling with essential oils by way of diffusing. Diffusing is great because it’s super easy. There is no question of where to apply the essential oils. Just add the drops to the diffuser, fill with water and start the diffuser. The aromas will fill the air and when you inhale them, the essential oils will reach your limbic system which is responsible for our behavioral and emotional responses. No wonder inhaling essential oils is so powerful!

Here are some amazing essential oil diffuser blends to use while journaling.

Did you notice several of the essential oils fell into multiple categories above? How cool is that!? Each essential oil has soooooo many uses! I love it! Just play around with them and see what you like best. And you might even find a favorite that you just diffuse all the time while journaling with essential oils.

Topical Application

The other way to journal with essential oils is to apply the essential oils topically.  Some of the most popular places to apply essential oils are: wrists, behind ears, over the heart, shoulders, belly button, crown of your head, temples and the bottoms of the feet. You can also put the essential oils in your hands, rub your hands together, then cup your hands over your nose and mouth and inhale and exhale deeply about five times then rub your hands through your hair or over your shoulders.

As with diffusing essential oils, the oils you choose and the location in which you decide to apply them is a personal choice.  I always suggest picking an oil you are feeling drawn to and starting with applying it to your wrists. Your wrists are great for essential oils when journaling because they are close to your hands and you can also easily raise your wrists to your nose and inhale if you are feeling you need more of the oils to reach your limbic system.

I also love to put essential oils behind my ears then rubbing down my neck and also applying to my temples while I’m journaling. Rollers are a great way to use essential oils topically. And you can even create some great roller blends. There are a few listed on this blog post.

Thoughts?

If you journal with essential oils, we’d love it if you would share with us which essential oils are your favorites and how you use them (diffuse, topical, etc).

I encourage you to read this blog post Journal Prompts For Moms for some inspiring journal prompt ideas you can use while taking advantage of the benefits of the essential oils I listed above.
