Glass shower doors can leave people with a love hate relationship with them. They can look elegant and nice… But they can also get very dirty very quickly. I’m going to share with you a super easy DIY recipe so you can clean your glass shower doors without harsh chemicals! If you have glass shower doors, you NEED this cleaner. It works so well!

When we purchased our home in 2008 I was excited that the bathrooms had glass shower doors. We had small kids and keeping the water mess inside the bathtub was way easier with the shower doors than with a shower curtain. I don’t know what those kids do in there but without glass shower doors, there seemed to always be a flood on the bathroom floor when they were done.
But glass shower doors aren’t all rainbows and sunshine. The soap scum accumulates and water drops are inevitable after each shower. When we remodeled our master bathroom the first thing to go were the shower doors. To me, they were just an extra thing to clean. And that was the “adult” bathroom so I didn’t have to worry about a water mess all over the floor from the kids since they didn’t use that shower.

The kids bathroom is a completely different story though. We opted to keep the glass shower doors to keep the water off the floor. But since I never use that shower, the doors don’t get squeegeed. And the soap scum builds up. Very quickly I might add.
I wasn’t about to use the toxin filled harsh chemical cleaners that are marketed to clean glass shower doors.
So I made one that is sooooooo good that I want to share it with you!

This glass shower door cleaner only has 5 ingredients and I bet you already have them in your home! And if you don’t I’m linking where you can grab them!

How To Clean Glass Shower Doors Without Harsh Chemicals
You don't need store bought harsh chemicals to get your glass shower doors squeaky clean! I'm going to show you how to clean your glass shower doors without harsh chemicals. DIY recipe included!
Materials
Tools
- 1 cup distilled or filtered water
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol (or 80 proof vodka)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 15 drops Lemon Essential oil
Instructions
- Add 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol (or the vodka) to your spray bottle.
- Add 1/2 cup white vinegar to the spray bottle.
- Add 1 tbsp corn starch to the spray bottle.
- Add 15 drops Lemon Essential Oil to your spray bottle.
- Fill the rest of the way with water.
- Give a little shake
- Spray your shower doors to saturate them. I lit mine sit for approximately 2-3 minutes.
- I used a microfiber cloth to scrub it down with, but you can probably use any old rag. I just felt the microfiber would grab the soap scum better.
Notes
To maintain your shower doors, I suggest using a squeegee after every shower/use. However, I realize that isn't always possible, especially when it is kids who is using the shower lol. So this recipe is perfect to use to clean those shower doors that we know your kids aren't squeegeeing after each use!
