I don’t know what your personal take is on wearing a mask, but regardless if you are for it or against it, they have to be worn, at least in some places. I know where I live, in southern California, they are required anytime you are in a public building or if you are outside and cannot social distance 6 feet. Wearing a mask for an extended period of time can get pretty stuffy, especially in this heat and I know a lot of people are complaining of smelling their own breath after eating lunch then having to put the mask back on for work lol. I’ve got an awesome DIY mask spray you can make with essential oils!
Easy and Customizable
The essential oils make this DIY mask spray customizable. Whatever you put on your mask, you are most definitely going to inhale. Instead of washing your mask with a toxic laundry detergent, just give a spritz or two of one of the essential oil oils. Seriously, if you haven’t looked up the ingredients in your laundry detergent, please do yourself a favor and do that now. Those “flower fields” and “spring rain” scents, just to name a few, are full of synthetic fragrances that are super duper bad for you.
Scent Options
You can pick your spray based on your scent preference or based on your desired effect. For example, if you want some immune boosting essential oils, use a Thieves spray. If you want something that is fresh and supports your airways, pick something like Raven, RC, Eucalyptus, or Peppermint. You can pick floral scents like Lavender, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Rose, etc. If you want something to help with the stress and irritations of wearing a mask and battling crowds go with something like Stress Away, Valor, or Peace & Calming. You can even use more than one oil in your mask spray. The options are pretty much limitless.
Some of our favorites are Peppermint, Thieves, Peace & Calming, Lemon, Stress Away, and Northern Lights Black Spruce.
Easy and Affordable
Making your own DIY mask spray is super easy and super affordable. And again, without the toxins of other things you may be considering spraying your mask with. Please don’t do that to yourself or your loved ones. You deserve better, and so do they.
DIY Mask Spray
This is a super easy and inexpensive way to scent your mask without toxins of course.
Materials
- 5 drops essential oil of choice (Young Living brand)
- 2 ml witch hazel or water
Tools
- 2ml glass spray bottle
- Stickers/labels (optional)
Instructions
- Add 5 drops of essential oil to the spray bottle,
- Fill the rest of the way with witch hazel or water. I prefer the witch hazel because it mixes with the oil better than the water does.
- Put the lid on.
- Give a swirl and spritz.
- If you want to make them pretty or easily identifiable you can put stickers on them. I used the ones linked here and cut them down to fit on the bottles.
