I think that this is definitely the season to pamper ourselves. After all that 2020 has thrown at us and with the dry winter air, I’m sure we could all use some relaxing and soothing self-care treatments. One of my favorite ways to get some self-care in is with a foot soak. This DIY foot soak with essential oils not only is relaxing, but it can help pull toxins out of your body and is something you can even use while sitting there watching a movie with a loved one or an evening alone with a glass of wine. There are so many great things about this DIY foot soak that I’ll talk about below, but I wanted to mention that this can also be used as a bath soak as well! How fun!
Easy and Customizable

Why do I love this DIY foot soak so much? Well, I love the fact that I can whip it up really quickly. Sometimes I just throw some in a foot bath really quickly and other times I make larger batches of it to give as gifts. It’s so easy!
I also love that it’s so customizable. So, you can change it up based upon your mood or desired effect. For instance, if you need something relaxing you can add Stress Away, Lavender, or Peace & Calming essential oils. If you want something more cleansing you can use something like Tea Tree essential oil. If your feet are sore and tired, you can use PanAway. So many different options for different things. The ones I mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg.
4 Easy Ingredients
This easy DIY Foot Soak contains only 4 ingredients. And if you’ve been making my other DIY items from the blog, you probably already have all of these items on hand!
The first ingredient is Epsom Salt. Epsom salt is great for soothing tired and sore bones and muscles. Adding Epsom Salt to this DIY foot soak is a great way to give your feet some much needed relief.
The next thing I like to use in this DIY foot scrub is Himalayan salt. I love this salt because it’s very minimally processed, full of great trace minerals, has antimicrobial properties, and can be soothing for psoriasis and eczema.
The third ingredient I like to use in the DIY foot soak is baking soda. Baking soda can help relieve minor pain, itching, and other irritations. Baking soda is cleansing and detoxifying and may help boost immunity. You can also substitute vinegar for baking soda but I prefer baking soda in mine.
And last but definitely not least, essential oils are great in this DIY foot soak. As I mentioned above, there are different reasons to pick different essential oils for your foot soak, or bath soak, but some of the popular and favorite ones are Lavender, Stress Away, and Peace & Calming for relaxing, Tea Tree or Purification for cleansing, Peppermint for deodorizing or for soothing tired feet, and Rosemary for soothing and antiseptic properties. The list is pretty much endless but these are some of the favorites.
Recipe
This DIY foot soak recipe is super easy to put together and pretty inexpensive as well. You basically use equal parts Epsom salt, Himalayan salt, and baking soda then add the desired amount of essential oils. My recipe, below, is for an 8oz jar of foot soak. Don’t forget this can be used for a bath soak just as easily. I love to just put everything in the 8oz mason jar and give it a shake to mix it up. Can’t really get any easier than that haha! Just use a tablespoon or two at a time in your foot soak and you are good to go!
This is a super easy soothing DIY foot soak you can make using things you probably already have at home. This recipe can also be used as a relaxing bath soak. Add some essential oils to personalize it and make it your own. One of my favorite foot/bath soaks to make includes 4 drops each, Peppermint, Lavender, and Rosemary essential oils.
