DIY Bath Bombs

Ever have those days where you just NEED to relax? You NEED your time away from the chaos daily life brings? The noisy kids who argue all day long. The husband who nags. The boss that wont quit stop asking you to do things that aren’t really things you want to be doing or should be doing.  Or maybe it isn’t even about getting away from it all, but it’s just about treating yourself right, or pampering yourself. Or maybe it’s part of your daily routine before you go to bed or even before you get your day started. Maybe you just need to ease your bones and muscle tension. Whatever the reason may be, I’d bet that the majority of us enjoy a relaxing bath. That’s why these diy bath bombs are wonderful!

DIY Bath Bombs Are Awesome

Daegan and I made these the other day and love how they turned out. We decided on a Peppermint bath bomb recipe and a Stress-Away and Lavender recipe. The peppermint is great for relieving tension after a strenuous workout while also awakening and uplifting.  While the Stress-Away and Lavender ones are great for night time baths when you just need to escape it all and relax. These things fizz in your bath water while releasing the essential oils into the water to do their thing (and an amazing thing it is!).

So here it goes.

What you need:

1 c. Citric Acid

1 c. Baking Soda (I buy this large one because I use it for so many things and its cheaper in the long run)

1/2 c fractionated coconut oil

1/2 c. cornstarch

10 drops (or more) essential oil

food coloring (optional)

dried lavender (optional)

Molds for the bath bombs (I used these and these cupcake ones)

What you do:

Mix the baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch and fractionated coconut oil in a bowl. Add the essential oil of your choice. You can also add food coloring and/or lavender if you chose.  Once the mixture is fully incorporated spoon the mixture into the molds. We used silicone cupcake molds for the Peppermint ones and flower shaped molds for the Stress-Away and Lavender ones.

We didn’t add any food coloring to the Peppermint ones were until in the molds. At that point we added 1-2 drops of red food coloring then spread it around with a toothpick to make it look like a crushed peppermint candy.

Once the molds are filled, let them sit and harden for about 24 hours. Then you can package them in pretty little baggies to give as gifts. We didn’t get to that point because we wanted to test them out and my kids loved them so much they used them all. Looks like we will be making more soon to hand out as Christmas gifts 🙂

I thought these amazing bath bombs would be amazing gifts. Great for teacher, friends, parents, neighbors, coaches, anyone really. I can’t imagine someone not appreciating this homemade thoughtful and beneficial gift.

You know where to find your oils (be sure to select wholesale member to take advantage of the 24% discount) Grab the PSK because it has Peppermint, Lavender, Stress-Away (and MORE). Or find out more about the kit here.

Still need your essential oils?

I do have to say one more time, I ONLY USE YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS. They are 100% pure. No pesticides touch the crops. There are no additives in the oils. No watering down. Distilled at the right time of year for the specific plant. They are distilled at the right temperature, for the right amount of time (no short cuts here). To read more about Young Living and their seed to seal guarantee go to www.seedtoseal.com and you will see why I only use them. PLUS, I cannot speak to the quality of other brands and can’t guarantee they will be any good at all.

I’m giving a $20 Amazon gift card to all new members who purchase any of the Young Living Premium Starter Kits using my link! I’ll also keep in touch with you and share all about how to use essential oils (unless you want me to leave you alone, then I will lol). To order your kit click here.
