When you hear Frankincense are you immediately taken back to baby Jesus and the wonderful gifts bestowed upon Him? I sure am! There has to be something said about something so powerful and wonderful that was gifted to baby Jesus. Frankincense essential oil is a powerhouse for without a doubt. Read on to learn all about Frankincense.
Frankincense essential oil comes from the resin of the Boswellia Carterri tree. It is steam distilled to preserve its richness and the powerful constituent alpha-pienene (google that, I could do a whole blog post on it lol), which produces a distinctive, rich, balsamic scent.
So what is this famous oil so good for? Well many, many things actually. Frankincense can be use for a seemingly endless amount of things ranging from using during spiritual practices (prayer), using for enhancing meditation, using for cellular support, and using for beauty routines. I’ll tell you some of our favorite ways to use them here.
Prayer and Meditation
The aroma Frankincense provides is one that promotes feelings of grounding and relaxation. That is why so many people use it during prayer and meditation. Diffuse it during your quiet morning prayer time to feel more connected and focused on your prayer. You can diffuse it during meditation for feelings of grounding and calm.
Frankincense is a super popular essential oil in beauty products as well. It promotes the appearance of healthy looking skin and even skin tone (hello to me who is about to turn 40 in a few days!). You can add a few drops to your moisturizer or apply to your face or other problematic skin area by adding a few drops to a carrier oil.
One of my absolute favorite ways to use Frankincense essential oil is in this DIY Glow Serum. I love it because I have noticed my age spots aren’t so obvious anymore and my skin really does seem to glow. It’s super easy to make and you only need to use a dime size drop for your entire face. So, a little really does go a very long way.
According to PubMed, Frankincense “resin indeed has an analgesic, tranquilizing and anti-bacterial effects” and “They reduce inflammatory conditions in the course of rheumatism by inhibiting leukocyte elastase and degrading glycosaminoglycans.” I encourage you to do some more research and learn all about Frankincense and the studies that have been done with it and the big C word. PubMed also has some great articles on that 😉
In general Frankincense is known to support your body on a cellular level. What does that mean? Basically, it means Frankincense essential oil goes into your body (when you apply it to your skin, your skin absorbs it), and travels throughout your body to different cells to provide them support so that they can function the way they were designed. Again, I encourage you to research this. There are some pretty interesting studies out there.
These are just some of the many benefits of Frankincense essential oil and just a few of the many ways this amazing oil can support your body, and promote and maintain wellness. What’s your favorite way to use Frankincense Essential Oil?
