7 Must Have Essential Oils For Camping
Whether you are camping in a tent, sleeping under the stars, aer hiding out in a cabin in the woods or even in your RV, there are several essential oils you will definitely want to have with you! Here’s my list of 7 must have essential oils for camping and why you need them.
First up, let’s start with the basics.

Lavender
I mean, when are we ever without this Lavender anyway. It is called the swiss army knife of essential oils for a reason, am I right?! We love to use this in our homemade outdoor spray. But we also have a bottle with us when camping to soothe minor skin irritations such as insect bites, burns, cuts and scrapes. You can apply this neat to the area or use a gentle, unscented carrier oil if you prefer.

Tea Tree
Tea Tree is the second essential oil we always have when camping. Did you know mosquitos really don’t like this essential oil? So you know what it’s great for? Yep, you guessed it! Keep those irritating little suckers away. You can add it to your homemade insect repellent or you can add some to an unscented lotion and rub that on exposed areas of your skin. Like Lavender, Tea Tree can be soothing to minor skin irritations and supports natural healing.

Frankincense
Frankincense is another essential oil that you will want to take camping with you. It is known for its immune supporting properties. We all want to stay at our best when outdoors or even in close quarters with other people who may be sharing their germs with us. Frankincense is also a must have camping essential oil because it is a well known essential oil for the appearance of healthy looking skin along with supporting the healing of minor skin irritations.

Peppermint
Peppermint essential oil is another one I’m never ever without so it only makes sense that it would be on my list of 7 must have essential oils for camping. First of all, I use it constantly to soothe head tension and sore muscles. Camping already doesn’t provide the most comfortable sleep so you may want to take some to rub on those muscles. Oftentimes camping also brings along hiking and other outdoor adventures that your body may not be used to so having a bottle of peppermint on hand to soothe those issues is a great idea. Also, ants do not like peppermint at all, so take along some cotton balls and put peppermint essential oil on them and put it in places where ants may try to come in and invade your space.

Purification
Purification essential oil has lots of great uses, but the main one for me is to use in our RV to clear out stinky odors lol. Staying in an RV for days upon days with kids that are running around getting sweaty and dirty can leave your living area smelling not so fresh. I always bring a diffuser in my RV but if you don’t have any electricity and need to freshen up your tent or sleeping bags, just drop a few drops on the fabric for an instant air freshener. It’s a blend of Citronella, Lavandin, Lemongrass, Myrtle, Rosemary, and Tea Tree, so obviously the bugs aren’t going to like this one either. Another bonus to this essential oil is bugs don’t like it so it could help keep those annoyances away also.

Citronella
Citronella is a popular scent for candles to keep bugs away. It’s popular for that purpose because it works. And pure citronella essential oil is a powerful tool to take camping. If you have a power source add a few drops to your diffuser and diffuse the bugs away lol. If you don’t, you can always add a few drops to unscented lotion and apply as your own bug deterrent. You can also add this on to your homemade insect repellent.

Thieves
Thieves is another essential oil we always have, camping or not. Its powerful immune supporting oils are always recommended by me to keep us healthy. This oil is a blend of 5 different essential oils, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, and Lemon. It’s an oil we use in our immune supporting rollers. And because of the clove and cinnamon bark it can have a numbing effect as well. It is considered a “hot” oil so be sure to dilute it if applying topically.
